4 things to check in an Extras product

  1. 1Waiting periods

After you join, you wait before you can claim. Common services like general dental and physio usually have 2 months; major dental and hearing aids usually 12 months.

  2. 2Benefit per visit

Each service pays up to a fixed amount per visit (for example $60 for a scale and clean), or a percentage of the fee (for example 60%). You pay the rest.

  3. 3Annual limits

The most you can claim for a service each year. Many products share one limit across several services, such as physio, chiro and osteo. Limits reset each calendar year or membership year, depending on the fund.

  4. 4Purchase rules

Some Extras can be bought on their own; others must be held with a hospital policy from the same fund. Each product page shows its rule.
